Wake-on-LAN with Alexa: turn on your PC with your voice

Say “Alexa, turn on the computer” and your PC boots up — from the couch, from the office, from anywhere. PCS Agent combines Amazon Alexa (plus Apple HomeKit/Siri and Home Assistant) with Wake-on-LAN so your computer turns on without touching the power button.

How it works

Wake-on-LAN sends a “magic packet” to your PC's network card, which stays listening even when the computer is off. PCS Agent delivers that packet for you when your voice assistant asks for it — no port forwarding, no static IP, no command line.

Setup in 4 steps

  1. Create a free account at pcs-agent.com and install the PCS Agent app (Windows or macOS).
  2. Add your PC as a Wake-on-LAN device in the dashboard — the app detects the MAC address for you.
  3. Enable Wake-on-LAN in your BIOS/UEFI (usually under Power Management) and connect via Ethernet.
  4. Enable the PC Agent skill in the Alexa app and say: “Alexa, turn on the computer”.

Unlimited WOL devices, free

The free plan includes unlimited Wake-on-LAN devices forever — wake your gaming PC, your NAS or the office workstation. Paid plans add remote shutdown, volume control, app launching, custom modes, and live camera/screen streaming to HomeKit and Home Assistant.

Frequently asked questions

What is Wake-on-LAN?

Wake-on-LAN (WOL) is a network standard that lets you turn on a computer remotely by sending a special 'magic packet' to its network card. The PC must be connected via Ethernet (or a WOL-capable Wi-Fi card) and have WOL enabled in the BIOS/UEFI.

Can Alexa turn on my PC?

Yes. With PCS Agent you say “Alexa, turn on the computer” and the service sends a Wake-on-LAN packet to your PC. It works from anywhere, not just your home network.

Is Wake-on-LAN free in PCS Agent?

Yes — the free plan includes unlimited Wake-on-LAN devices, forever. You can wake your PC, NAS or any WOL-capable device.

Does WOL work when the PC is fully shut down?

Yes, as long as the motherboard keeps standby power to the network card and WOL is enabled in BIOS/UEFI settings. It works from shutdown (S5) and from sleep.
